Secrets of Google Adsense

I had inserted google adsense into my template, to see if it really works..
The results have been very very funny....

600 page views a day and one click... lol that's about 10 cents because the ad was a cheap one perhaps. The only people who are making money from google adsense seem to be google and the host of con artists with websites selling tips and tricks to earn money from google adsense by writing about high paying keywords and adword tips.

I made 10 cents from 300 hits, so I need 3000 hits to earn a dollar... hahaha so even if I had 3000 a day, which is near impossible, it will take me hundred days to accumulate 100 dollars for google to send the first cheque. lol.

But at 300 hits, it will take me a thousand days to make 100 dollars... lol.
But since there are millions of blogs and many uses adsense, and google only pays a fraction, google still make good money eh! And I laugh!!!

And then, I realised, when did I last clicked on a sponsored link when I visited a blog?
I mean we don't click ads. Somehow, even if some ads seem quite relevant.

Anyway the layout is looking good even with the adsense ads.
I never started the blog with the intention of making money from it.
It was my passion for cooking, and the fun when I see people actually come to read my Blog.

Maybe I will buy a good dinner at the end of thousand days.

How have your experience with adsense, if you do use it, been?

Glad to hear about your experience with Adsense. I'm new to blogging and was curious about this. I don't think I'd have enough hits to really make much money at this point. If I try it, I'll have to revisit your site and let you know feedback.

Happy cooking!

Crystal

May be i can help with the hits ;)

Looks like you need to add couple of pages for blogrolls.

And what happened to your photo, you got some lots of marriage proposals, i wont be surprised if you are engaged already :) Now i know the idea behind the " TITLE "

hehehe.. but my blogroll is long already lol....

About the photo, rather I wasn't getting any proposals actually, so I thought I will try to remain mysterious...lol.... and BTW the title is not a title in that sense... I don't mean i am bachelor, it only means this is all about Bachelor Cooking.. lol.... Somebody interpreting it wrong for the right reasons, i won't mind lol....

Adsense on blogs is not much of a revenue generator. Who visits your blog? Other bloggers. What do they click on? The links in your posts, your blogroll, the web sites of those who leave comments on your posts. Very rarely will other bloggers click on ads on your blog, unless it is something that totally interests them. Take for instance that $200K mortgage for $875 a month ad below this post - why would anyone click on it? Most folks would go to their bank for loans as even an approval involves giving away confidential and private info.

Google Adsense ads are now close to invisible. Don't even count on revenues from there! Adsense ads are usually clicked by surfers who found your blog through a search and didn't find what they wanted on your blog. Usually they will leave right away without even clicking on anything, if that is the case.

Blogs as a source of revenue is a very interesting topic. Ads, unfortunately, don't amount to much unless done very cleverly. The returns from blogging are usually outside of the blog.

Your layout is looking good at 1024rez but the number of links is just too many. Consider putting those on separate pages devoted to just those links. If you add a short description to each link, it will become even more meaningful (kind of like your own directory of blogs) and those pages will soon become valuable resources.

ADsense doesn't make much sense in terms of money generation. Its only good who have high traffic and again depend on the what kind of Ad links.
We even discussed this issue in latest DBM. But in our meet there were 1-2 people who makes money by keeping a blog!

First of all, Thank you. Very much. It was a whole lot of feedback at one go. And very good suggestion indeed.

I read a lot of stuff on adsense, so i thought I will see how it works. That's how I started it. The point of the blog was just that. To even make a small amount from adsense from the blog, I would need traffic in Millions, and if I had a million hits, banner ads would pay much more ain't it.. I was just pondering at how adsense really works lol. Thanks anyway, your input on who clicks what was very insightful. And yeah, I guess i will give a short description to the links.... What do you think of the floating caption??

I really like this blog, but I never will click any ad...they are as someone mentioned earlier 'invisible' for all practical purposes.

On a different note, why doesnt the search functionality, above the "Technorati" logo work for me?:( I mean supposed I search gobhi in it,shouldn't I get all the gobhi stuff on your site?

Sorry for turning this into a site feedback ;)

@ Anwesha: That is the problem, nobody gives a feedback lol. I appreciate that, actually. I don't why the technorati thing don't work. I use the word Gobi instead Gobhi maybe.

And about the invisible thing, even i wrote that I don't rememeber having clicked on any ads myself lol.

This was post was not meant to ask people to click. It was a post about an adsense secret I learnt lol..

and of course all the feedbacks...

I too joined the google adsense just for curiosity... and in the last 45 days I have managed to make 82 dollars!..I think most of the clicks might have been the contribution of my husband/my brother/my mother!! So probably we can make each other richer with a common understanding!!

Indianadoc, you may want to rethink that as that is against the TOS of AdSense. I know many folks who have had their accounts abruptly terminated without payout of the balance. Also, don't forget that there are small businesses at the other end that are paying Google for every click, and that while their pocketbook gets lighter, Google makes the biggest buck in all of this. Put yourself in the shoes of the advertiser. Please don't take this the wrong way!

adsense works in two ways. either cpm or ctr. cpm means cost per impressions. ctr means click through rate. the advertiser can choose anyone. if the advertiser choose cpm it doesn't matter whether somebody clicks or not, per 1000 impression will be charged. based on that u will get the charge from google.
